| Welcome to the CyBENCH Salvage Pages - Hall Effect SwitchesQUICK INTRODUCTION Hall effect switches are typically combined Hall elements and a switching circuit. Quite simply, they are electronic switches operated my placing a magnet close to them. No direct physical contact is required, just close proximity to a magnet. They can operate at high frequency - high speed revolution counter. Some have a binary style output - on or off, others have a linear output. Devices with a linear output give indication of magnetic strength. This can also be used to judge the distance from the magnet. APPLICATIONS These devices are used in many electronic devices. Typical applications include:
ADVANTAGES They offer better reliability than mechanical contact switches. They do not suffer dirt as would an optical sensor. They are suited to harsh environments - total enclosed. |
