Part 2 - Connecting the Receiver to Cybot
Connecting the Receiver to Cybot is quite simple.
Connecting wire, I used coloured ribbon cable, 5 way, approx. 150mm length.
You can use any thin wire though, the coloured ribbon suited the pictures though.
Motor Test Board - I hacked mine, it's the simplest way to connect the wires to the motor driver board.
Again, use anything that works, get a pin header from MAPLIN, or lengths of stiff wire.
Cut the wire to the required length, approx 150mm.
Strip and tin the wires of each end.
Now you have a stripped RF receiver and decoder and matching keyfob, Visit the 4bit RF remote control project in the main Projects area HERE
Strip the remote and keyfob as described.
You can also perform initial testing as described.
At this stage, you need to link the receiver to cybot and build the remote handset.
If you're using the Motor Test Board, you need to cut a few tracks.
All the tracks are available from the top-side of the PCB. There are 4 cuts required.
To cut the tracks at the front of the board, you'll need to move the plastic strip forward.
Simply, gently, lever it forwards and off the pins.
Cut the tracks as shown.
One above Pin2, One above Pin4, One between pins 3 and 4, One between Pins 6 and 7.
Replace the plastic strip.
Connect the wires to the Motor Test Board, or which ever connector you chose, as shown below.
Connect the wires to the Receiver board as shown below.
